Dragon Game
ITICA - Museum Lab of CYENS
Description
Dragon Game is an interactive augmented reality (AR) artwork that brings Cypriot history and mythology to public spaces through playful exploration. Inspired by local dragon legends, the project invites participants to discover traditional fountains across Cyprus, where digital dragons and narrative elements emerge through mobile AR technology. By combining storytelling, location-based interaction and cultural heritage, the artwork transforms everyday places into immersive experiences that reconnect visitors with local myths and historical landscapes.
Rather than presenting mythology as a static historical record, Dragon Game encourages audiences to engage with it through participation, movement and discovery. The artwork highlights the relationship between memory, place and digital innovation, showing how AR can strengthen cultural identity while promoting exploration of local communities and heritage sites. By fusing art, technology and folklore, Dragon Game offers a contemporary interpretation of Cyprus’s rich mythological traditions and shows how digital media can create meaningful cultural experiences.
