Lost Spaces
ITICA - Museum Lab of CYENS
Description
Lost Spaces is a documentary VR experience set in the UN Buffer Zone of the divided city of Nicosia, Cyprus, an area recognised as one of Europe’s most endangered heritage sites.
The experience invites audiences into this otherwise inaccessible territory, exploring its abandoned landscapes through the memories and voices of those who once lived and worked there, carrying fragments of a shared heritage across generations.
Guided by personal testimonies, Lost Spaces unfolds as a layered narrative of absence and memory, where physical space and lived experience intertwine. The work invites reflection and dialogue around a landscape that has remained suspended in time, bringing this no man’s land back into collective consciousness and tracing how memory and heritage persist even in spaces emptied of their people.
