Pathways2Resilience (P2R) and CLIMAAX-NIC

SuPerWorld of CYENS

Description

This interactive artwork explores the growing impact of climate change on Cyprus’s urban environments through the municipalities of Limassol and Nicosia. Pathways2Resilience (P2R) and CLIMAAX-NIC present scientific climate risk assessments in an engaging visual experience, highlighting three key challenges: the urban heat island effect (UHIE), flooding and drought.

The installation combines climate modeling, geospatial data and immersive visualisation to reveal how rising temperatures, extreme rainfall and prolonged dry periods affect cities, infrastructure, ecosystems and everyday life. By translating complex environmental data into intuitive visual narratives, the artwork makes climate risks more accessible to the public while demonstrating the role of digital technologies in understanding and communicating future scenarios.

Bridging science, technology and art, the project encourages visitors to reflect on the vulnerability of urban areas and the importance of evidence-based climate adaptation. It showcases how innovative climate risk modelling and visualisation can support more resilient, sustainable and informed cities, fostering dialogue on the collective actions needed to address the challenges of a changing climate.
